So things have been mighty quiet in these parts. It never helps when two guys start going back to school, others of us have been working near infinite hours, and one of us expands the band family by expanding his real family. All that adds up to a lot of chatter on the internet as we wait for Palindromes to become real on vinyl in the coming months and then we’ll be playing shows to make it count. Until then, here’s a video from our gig at Precinct in Somerville back in September.

Release dates in the underground world are usually pretty nebulous. When Matt from L’Animaux Tryst determined January 25th as the release date for the double cassette version of First Annual North Falmouth Organ Slaughter, we had faith in him, even if we didn’t schedule our release date until February 16 (at Great Scott with Tristan da Cunha & Sam Moss). Delays in Portland didn’t get them out of town until Tuesday morning, but that seems like exactly when they were supposed to go.

Waiting for them was the biggest challenge. On Thursday morning, I went out as soon as the sun broke through and spent hours shoveling snow. But the first thing I did was make a path so the postman could get to the door. Despite 2 Day Priority guarantees, apparently snow has slipped from the USPS creed and into the realm of act of God. We didn’t get any mail at all. Friday I woke antsy as though it were Christmas morning or something. In the early afternoon, I heard the mail slot creak and made the door in two strides only to find a piece of junk mail. I opened the door and there was no package in the foyer. Instead of freaking out I took a shower, and then emailed Matt to see if he had a tracking number I could take to the post office. As soon as I clicked send there was a clattering at the front door. I looked out the window to see a mail truck parked at the end of the driveway. Downstairs in an even quicker flash, waiting for me was cardboard nirvana.

Tearing it open there it was — our music made to look awesome. Not much more to say, but just wait until you get to hear how great it sounds with the natural analog compression of the cassette…

The Blizzard is Back

A few years back, we punctuated a year with a residency at PA’s Lounge, and the weather wiped out one date entirely and seemed to threaten all of the others. Rather than put ourselves at the regular mercy of the meteorological fates on a series of dates we figured they could concentrate their energies to do their worst just on Wednesday, December 15th. That’s the day that we’re bringing a slew of our friends together to showcase some of the best sounds and best people around Boston to help celebrate our 50th performance.

Please join us as we present a quasi-annual musical celebration, The Rolling Blizzard Revue Number Two, featuring performances by Thundersun, Puppy Mill, Ten Years Old, Fashion Snake, The Red F, Bell & the Bees, and Concord Ballet Orchestra Players on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at PA’s Lounge.

So once again local tastemakers have found their way to our music. This time it is the blog I Heart Noise that has found us to set their brains sailing on a psychedelic trip and they have selected the near 20 minute opus “For Merce Cunningham” from the Spiritual Elders album for inclusion.

We’ve finally got ourselves a gig in our northern neighbor. Opening for pals Phantom Buffalo as they ready themselves for a big French tour, we might actually get seen by some folks and not just slip in and out of the state incognito. Tell all Mainers to point themselves to Portland this weekend.

Pawtucket is Wild in the Days

OK, so here’s how it goes. We’ve got a show that we’re playing in Pawtucket. On a Sunday. At Noon. As the warm-up act for a movie. A documentary. About Wild Man Fischer. Plus some shorts. Not that the movie is about shorts, there are just some short films on the program as well, or so we’ve been told.

Fitchburg Bound!

The best part of this trip is either that a) I can detour the whole band through Sterling on our way out here so we can stop at Rota Spring Farm for ice cream or b) the fact that this will be my grand return to the space that used to house Free Space Gallery where I played a solo Most Bitter set with a Moog Voyager.

Whichever the case, this should be a hoot, and be sure to send a call out to all of your mid-Mass and southern NH pals to come tear the roof off the mother.

So Jinsen (28 Degrees Taurus) has put together some crazy Deep Heaven Now festival at PA’s Lounge on August 7. Of course he didn’t invite us to that , but we’re playing the unofficial pre-party at PA’s the night before the show. Plus it features our thereminist Kris Thompson’s other band headlining the night with a big ol’ reunion show (they haven’t played since Terrastock I think).
